13 Going On 30/50 First Dates/The Perfect Man DVD Comedy (2006) Hilary Duff

Triple bill of comedies. ’13 Going on 30′ (2004) is a comic fantasy starring Jennifer Garner as Jenna Rink, who at the start of the film is a typical awkward adolescent, constantly dreaming of being popular and accepted as part of the in-crowd at school. During her thirteenth birthday party, she finds herself sitting alone and humiliated in a dark closet after being rejected during a teenage kissing game – and fervently wishes that there might be some way to avoid the trials and tribulations of the teenage years that stretch so cruelly and inevitably ahead of her. When she emerges, she gets the surprise of her life: she’s popular, beautiful, successful – and days away from her 30th birthday. The only problem is, her mind has not matured to match her new womanly body, career or love-life. ’50 First Dates’ (2004) is a romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore as Lucy Whitmore, a beautiful woman suffering from acute short-term memory loss. After a car accident several months before, she has been left with a rare brain condition that causes her memory to be totally erased every night when she goes to sleep. Adam Sandler plays Henry Roth, a vet who works at the aquarium in the Hawaiian resort where Lucy is living a quiet life with her over-protective father (Blake Clark) and goofy brother (Sean Astin). Henry usually spends his summers seducing a string of female tourists that he’ll never see again – but when he meets Lucy he realises he’s found something special, and resolves to give up his promiscuous, non-commital lifestyle. The only problem is, when he meets her again the next day, she hasn’t got a clue who he is. Henry embarks on an elaborate quest to win her heart, with the help of his stoner best friend Ula (Rob Schneider). Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear star in ‘The Perfect Man’. Holly Hamilton (Duff) is sick of moving house every time her single mother Jean (Locklear) breaks up with another worthless boyfriend, so she comes up with a plan to create an imaginary secret admirer who will boost Jean’s self-esteem and hopefully keep her in one place. But when the romance takes off, Holly has to produce the goods, and so she borrows her best friend’s handsome uncle Ben (Chris Noth) to pose as the secret admirer. But will Holly be able to keep the pretence up for long?
