Part of the documentary series looking at the most significant battles of the Second World War. This volume traces the course of the fighting in the Crimea, initially secured by General Manstein in 1941, in an engagement that cost the Soviets two whole army groups. After the catastrophic German defeats at Stalingrad and Kursk however, the German forces in the Crimea found themselves cut off and facing determined Soviet assaults in which 12 German and Romanian divisions where destroyed. Includes rare archive footage.
