Its a tale of financial nightmares and engineering excellence and it’s told with the help of her owner, the chief engineer and the traction inspector who was on the footplate at key moments. These include a ‘Your journey times’ leaflet from 1932, a 1950 music sheet of the Flying Scotsman Piano Solo, 1962 luncheon menu card & wine list, 1963 “Save our Scotsman” poster, an engine record card from 1923, postcards and a set of four engineer’s technical drawings.
