The plot of the film revolves around two young women, Catherine Brown (Hatcher) and Amber La Vonne (San Juan), who come to Hollywood with dreams of stardom. The girls repeatedly switch identities, causing further confusion for the powers that be at the Variety Club and Paramount Studios and leading to a number of slapstick interludes.
